The Third of May (also known as El tres de mayo de en Madrid, or Los fusilamientos de la montaña del Príncipe Pío, or Los fusilamientos del tres de mayo is a painting completed in by the Spanish painter Francisco Goya, now in the Museo del Prado, Madrid.   Franciso Goya, The Second of May , Francisco Goya, The Third of May , War might have been avoided at this point, but on the following day, the third of May, the French executed all the Spaniards believed to have been connected with the uprising in any way, without trial, at Príncipe Pío, a hill just outside Madrid.

Directed by Lucie Donahue. With Samuel West, Richard Cork, George Deem, Mariet de Winkel. The Golden Age of Dutch Art boasted Johannes Vermeer (), whose showpiece, "The Art of Painting" (c. ), is critically examined and analyzed. The painting's planned prominent role in the ill-fated Third Reich is also described/10(6). The Second of May , also known as The Charge of the Mamelukes (in Spanish: El 2 de mayo de en Madrid, or La lucha con los mamelucos or La carga de los mamelucos), is a painting by the Spanish painter Francisco is a companion to the painting The Third of May and is set in the Calle de Alcalá near Puerta del Sol, Madrid, during the Dos de Mayo Artist: Francisco Goya.

Francisco Goya’s Third of May, represents a transition from heroic military paintings to a more modern portrayal that continues to dominate our notion of warfare even today. The artwork is focused on two groups of man. On one side we see a rigidly positioned firing squad, on the other, several disorganized prisoners held at gun point. Goya’s painting commemorates this bloody day and serves as a visual indictment against the intruder French king. Through this event, Goya explores the themes of human cruelty and repression. Third of May, Dead figure in the left. The first element that catches my eye is the distinct partition of the victims and the assailants.
